Touring Montréal is quite easy. There are numerous taxis along with both Uber and Lyft if you want to go door-to-door while on your visit. Ubers and taxis will be almost identical in fares unless one gets hit with Uber surge pricing.
Montréal also has an excellent Metro and Bus system. One can easily purchase a multi-day pass in any Metro station at the automated kiosk.
As always, Google Maps is your friend and will get you where you need to go even if it's not always the most efficient route.
If you prefer to use your own two feet, Montréal is a very safe city and you'll be fine walking and enjoying the cityscape but do maintain your situational awareness and don't stand too close to the curbs; those bus mirrors extend quite a bit and have thunked quite a few pedestrians on the noggin. Also note all drivers here are absolutely mental and the bicyclists are even worse. In fact, Montréal cyclists will immediately dispel the stereotype that all Canadians are polite and likeable.
Below you'll find a few of the hotels that Sandra and John recommend if you're visiting from out of town or just want to treat yourself to a Montréal staycation.
All of these hotels are located close to areas of town we think you will find interesting; they have easy access to transportation and some are even within walking distance to the big event on Saturday night.
